The company Modern Wooden Houses is finishing the first stage of construction of a large ambitious project - a recreational complex of three stone and wooden chalets in the Carpathians in the village of Yablunytsia.
The peculiarity of the architectural style of classic chalets is the characteristic adaptability of these buildings to the location on mountain slopes. One or two lower floors, for example, an alpine chalet, are usually stone or brick, and the upper floor and attic are wooden. This was done so that the house could better withstand avalanches, rockfalls and landslides.
Also a traditional architectural feature of classic chalets are large roofs with a low angle of inclination and large overhangs that protect the wooden facade from strong ultraviolet radiation. They are also characterized by balconies and terraces on the upper floors. Often, each terrace has its own stairs and awnings. This feature is not mandatory and characterizes the late architecture of chalets, when they turned from houses for local shepherds into tourist apartments near ski resorts. Today in Western Europe, any wooden building that can be rented for tourism and travel will be called a chalet.
But the tourism business is very capricious, over time, it is becoming increasingly difficult to interest tourists in something. Not only are the requirements for comfort growing, but also the attempts of hotel owners to surprise seasoned travelers and offer them something special.
So our company is building a rather unusual chalet. The classical paradigm of its style here quite beautifully integrates elements of modern half-timbered houses with energy-saving glazing. The left part of the building, structurally still looks like a traditional chalet, with an emphasis on the transparency of the view side of the building, and the right has an improved panoramic interior space due to its architectural form.
The perfection of the design composition is emphasized by the same style of internal and external architectural elements. Wood, stone and glass are constantly alternated in the structures and design. This composition is beautiful and spectacular, this Ukrainian chalet has a truly impressive design.
Today we offer the first photo report on the construction site. The photos and videos show how the main elements of wooden structures and wooden trusses are being assembled.
The structure also includes concreted areas and partitions, brick chimney systems, which are usually necessary either for restaurant equipment with an open fire and/or the presence of a fireplace. In addition, composite materials are often used in the finishing of some areas. Their use is justified both for fire safety reasons and for design purposes.
What's happening on the construction site in June 2025
As of June 2025, roofing work, including the installation of the sheathing board, has been completed. The installation of interior wood trim is also nearing completion, and the exterior trim is in full swing:

Standing seam roofing for a mountain chalet is the best choice, it suits both the style and technical characteristics. It is one of the most durable types of roofing, has a low weight, and provides excellent sealing. But its main advantage is the valuable property of standing seam roofing that it can be used to cover large pitched areas with an extremely low slope, which is just typical for a chalet of this size!

The external wooden finish of the large roof overhangs decorates them with technical details, which visually gives them elegance and emphasizes their important function in the construction and design.

Natural wood finishes immediately transform the interior of a fairly large room, and visible structural beams emphasize the scale of the building....

The process of laying the decorative facade stone has begun, while sections of the chalet's exterior wooden finishing are being installed.
