Despite the admiration of Huf-Houses, their practicality, energy saving and beauty - for the majority of those who want such a house remains only an unattainable dream because of its main drawback - the price! Some companies, taking the frame technology of half-timbered houses as a basis, equipped them with glass walls and, offering successful projects, successfully present them on the modern market. However, the price of such houses is still very impressive.
Considering the growing interest in modern glass houses such as:
Huf-Haus
Modern half-timbered houses
The company "Modern Wooden Houses" (abbreviated as "SDD"), wanting to keep up with the times, constantly monitors the development of these global trends and is actively developing in the design and implementation of wooden houses with a large amount of glazing.

Is it possible to make changes to the project according to the wishes of the client??

Most manufacturers of Huf-Haus adapt production to the production of ready-made template wall panels, therefore they offer mostly standard designs in which you, as a client, can change little.
Projects of glass wooden houses are developed by our company on an individual basis.
Here, the sketch was taken as the basis on the basis of which this project was developed, implemented according to the wishes and comments of the client!
We cooperate with talented, experienced, in wooden design, architects of Ukraine and we can offer you the development of a project with glazing in the style inherent in Huf-Haus with your wishes and participation, taking into account the cardinal points, features and landscape of your site.

At the request of the client, it is possible to develop a comprehensive house project with landscape design, thus providing an aesthetically complete ensemble.

This is important, as some of your exterior walls - usually facing the yard, garden or pond - will be transparent and you will be able to enjoy the beauty of your garden or seating area.

If everything is planned in a single landscape and architectural project, the result is very impressive.
A beautiful combination of wood and glass is not an easy task. In addition to the fact that such a house should be beautiful, cozy and elegant, it simply must be solid, durable and energy-saving.
Do you admire Hoof House? But how to build a house in this style at an affordable price?
Hufhaus Manufacture German Houses are made, delivered and built at prices (according to Builder Magazine)
from $450 - $600 per square foot,
1 square meter [m²] = 10.7638673611111 sq. foot (US, geodes.) [ft²]
If we convert to square meters, we get the following result from
450*10.76=4842$/m2 and up to 600*10 ,76=$6456/m2 per square meter respectively.
After a detailed study of the design features and adaptation of some units to the use of Ukrainian building materials, it can be argued that a glass half-timbered house or a house in the style inherent in Huf-Houses can be realized on the territory of Ukraine at a price of 600 to 1000$/m2 by offering clients also receive a high-quality year-round service organized by Ukrainian specialists with many years of experience in wooden housing construction.
The technology of production, assembly and assembly of glass houses of our company is different, and is not a clone of the Huf company!
Features of the half-timbered house of the SDD company.

Own technological innovations in the development of wooden structures, and the use of advanced technologies in the manufacture of double-glazed windows, as well as our own production of Ukrainian glued laminated timber of European quality, made it possible to reduce the cost of a half-timbered house up to 3 times. Thus, the price of our glass houses is formed:
- Without customs, road and international markups.
- Without long-term currency-linked prepayments
- A simple, understandable price formation is proposed: how much does a house cost, delivery, installation
- Flexible payment / prepayment system - based on an individual agreement and adapted to the realities of the domestic market without reference to the exchange rate
insured by a single stable price
Is it possible to choose the composition and configuration of wall glass blocks?
How can a glass house be warm?
For classic wooden houses, heat preservation and efficient energy consumption are a common thing, but with a large glazing area, many questions arise.
Ordinary glass almost does not prevent the penetration of external temperatures into the room, in addition, the temperature difference often manifests itself in the form of condensation on the smooth surface of the glass, which is prevented in various ways.
The production of modern double-glazed windows over the past 20 years has learned to deal with the above problems, and moreover, it has offered high-tech innovations that have made it possible to significantly increase the energy saving coefficient in houses with glass walls.
Types of glass used in half-timbered houses and applicable to the "Khuf-House"
Triplex – laminated glass. It is obtained by gluing two or more glasses between them with a polymer film or a composite hardening transparent composition dried under a press when heated.
There are tinted, colored, mirrored and triplexes with increased noise absorption or electric heating.
K/I glass - low-e, energy-saving glass that allows you to save up to 58% of the heat that is lost when using ordinary glass, i.e. a double-glazed window with low-e glass is 1.6 times warmer.
This is achieved by sputtering silver molecules under certain conditions, so that the resulting coating retains long-wave thermal radiation inside the room and does not prevent the penetration of light (short-wave) radiation from outside. But sometimes sun protection is required.
By type of protection, these glasses are:
- Heat saving
- Sunscreen
- Combined (both)
However, low-e glass is almost twice as expensive as regular navy glass, and the natural question arises: is the resulting effect worth the money, and is it just another publicity stunt to get additional profit from pure marketing ?
According to glass manufacturers, heat transfer coefficients have the following values:
| Coefficient of heat loss depending on the type of glass: | U=value W/m2K |
|---|---|
| Standard (float) glass | 5,8 |
| К-glass | 1,9 |
| I-glass | 1,2 |
This means that the thermal conductivity of K-glass is 3 times lower than usual, and that of I-glass is 4.8 times lower!
Visually, the effectiveness of technologies looks like this:
Diagram of the difference in heat transfer values depending on the choice of low-e glass technology.
What does this mean in real life?
When tested in laboratory conditions and the ambient temperature is -25gr.С and the internal temperature of the room is +20gr.С - the temperature sensor recorded on the glass surface:
- For ordinary glass +5,1гр.С
- Into K/Glass +11°С
- Into I/Glass +14°С
These calculations lead to the conclusion that for a double-glazed window of the same design and frame materials, the energy-saving efficiency of I-glass will save up to 30-38% of energy costs for space heating, while the initial costs of technological glass pay off quite quickly even in half-timbered houses where the glazing area occupies a significant part of the facade of the house.
* Spacers - in an insulating glass unit, a spacer separating glass from one another.
How to get rid of the edge condensate around the perimeter of a double-glazed window?
Whatever glass is used in the production of double-glazed windows, the weak point for the penetration of cold is aluminum spacers. As you know, aluminum is a good conductor of not only heat but also cold.
In severe frosts near an ordinary window, in the place where the aluminum profile is located, the surface temperature of the window is noticeably colder and edge condensate forms.
In order to get rid of this drawback, window manufacturers resort to using a polypropylene profile covered with a thin layer of foil on the outside (warm edge).
Not all profiles positioned as warm edge have the expected effective insulation!
The engineers of the company "SDD", for glazing the facades of Hoof-house style houses, recommend the use of polymer spacers with a rubber component. The advantages are obvious - there is no perimeter cold bridge in the glass partition, all adjacent parts are wooden and well sealed. Thus, heat loss is minimized.
Here's what it actually looks like:
For single glazing
for double glazing
How to achieve environmental safety without losing energy-saving properties?
We focus our reader's attention on the fact that our houses are wooden first of all!
All opaque parts of the walls of the house built by us with the elements of Huf-Haus are made in high-quality glued beams or in a frame insulated - with a 200mm layer of mineral insulation - a frame sheathed with imitation of a beam without the use of styrene-polymer insulation.
The scheme of wall insulation and layers used in the houses of our company is shown In this article

Finishing the wooden walls of beams and supports involves multi-layer painting resistant to adverse weather conditions.
All adhesives and protective compounds, as well as glazing antiseptics used in the decoration of the wooden parts of the glass house of the SDD company are from leading world manufacturers and have European standard safety certificates.
Different modern energy-efficient and heating systems were used in the configurations of half-timbered houses.
A prefabricated "pre-factory" or building a house on a construction site?
The SDD company produces the entire wooden structure of your future home and prepares it for assembly on site.

Installation of beams and frame supports, as well as glass packages, door and window modules is carried out directly on the site of the facility.
The design of the nodal junctions is designed in such a way that the glass parts of the facade damaged during operation can be replaced without dismantling and dismantling the wall frame and frame structure of the building. In addition, the wiring of engineering systems is carried out during the assembly of walls and frame structures, which makes the assembly process more controlled and predictable and does not require special expensive means delivery of oversized cargo - such as ready-made long wall panels and special installation tools .
Also, not everyone who plans to build a half-timbered house with glass exterior walls will insist on using expensive panoramic seamless wall blocks 3x-4 meters long or more in the construction. If you include low-emission, energy-saving glass, then the price of such a block can reach 500 EUR/m2. In practice, the size of one glass panel rarely exceeds 2x3 meters, and to reduce the cost, if the design allows, glass segments are made even smaller.
Conclusion: The frame-beam system, which is the basis in the Huf-house, Fachwerk, and in any frame house, if necessary, can be implemented with long-span beams of the SDD company up to 24m or, if the design requires it, with bent-glued structures and farms, and the fasteners of the connections will be hidden. At the same time, the uniqueness of our style and technology is emphasized.
At the request of the client, we can equip the house with both expensive premium stained glass wall blocks equipped with energy-saving double-glazed windows up to 4000x2200mm in size, used by some Finnish brands, and simpler smaller ones to save money.
Sufficient energy efficiency of the future home can be achieved with an environmentally friendly material without the use of styrene-polymer insulation or very expensive and technological layers, thus reducing the final price of the house.
Not every side of the house overlooking the site has an equally impressive view, and it is worth it to increase the value of the house with additional glazing, besides, a private house needs households. block and utility rooms that the owner wishes to hide.
A successful combination of wood and glass has impressive results and an unsurpassed appearance, besides, it has good environmental and heat-saving properties and can fit into a single landscape design of your site, creating the comfort and aesthetics of a durable home that will serve you for more than a dozen years.
