Technology
The basis of the dome design is frame technology, it is extremely flexible and allows you to create solutions for any need. Here we have collected projects based on the stratodesic (not to be confused with geodesic domes) scheme of wooden structures that form a regular spherical shape without the formation of a geodesic triangular grid of cells. The design of wooden bent-laminated beams is self-supporting and allows you to manage the internal space as you wish. Despite this, it is customary to mark out residential and functional areas, dividing them radially relative to the center of the dome, and in the very center to place a common passage area.
Doors, windows, openings
The domed house project can be ordered in either one or two-story versions. The entrance group and windows are usually placed in segmental openings between the beams, and the upper part of the dome is equipped with dormer windows. In some cases, these segmental openings can be almost completely glazed. The dome house project provides for increased energy efficiency, seismic resistance and maintainability, since the façade material is essentially roofing technology. At the time of writing, the company Modern Wooden Houses uses three types of roofing: a) bitumen; b) reed; c) folded; d) ceramic.
Insulation
To ensure energy saving in domed house projects, various types of insulation are used, most often they use a) mineral wool insulation, polyurethane foam, wood fiber mat, bonfire, etc.
